False Fission Drum (Polymephycite tympanum). A fourth category of complex life analogous to Earth's protists. Features a central stalk of biopolymer supported by air-filled sacs for buoyancy. Obtains nutrients primarily through photosynthesis; cave-dwelling variants absorb dissolved nutrients from their environment. The defining feature is a large light-producing organ emitting blue luminescence specifically designed to mimic the Cherenkov radiation signature of an underwater nuclear reactor. Shares body plan elements with the Tallshroom despite millions of years of separation — possibly convergent evolution, mimicry, or viral gene transfer. Awaiting further investigation.
