Overview
Hammerhead (tentatively Panoplia hammerhead). An armored, herd-dwelling, territorial herbivore with a powerful ram. Challenges intruders — especially other hammerheads — by displaying its pectoral fins and closing its enamel head shield before attacking. Spiracles behind the eyes feed into a jet channel with internal gills, driving sudden rams. Its large brain floats in a protective cyst; the central eye sees color while two smaller eyes guide ramming. Muscular vertical jaw suggests a diet of sponges, kelps, tunicates, and possibly crushed coral. Hammerheads also ram coral domes — possibly to toughen their shields. May have social cognition comparable to Earth's ungulates. Advise caution especially when piloting vehicles.
Survival
Give it space. If you see it spreading its fins, back away immediately. It will not follow you far beyond its territory boundary.
