What Is Silver Ore?
Silver Ore is a rare mineral in Subnautica 2, recognizable by its bright metallic sheen. It spawns as veins or large nodes in mid-depth caves and specific biomes. It's a key crafting material for the Standard Air Tank, Advanced Battery, and the Tadpole Dock — all of which you'll want early.
Where to Find Silver Ore
Caves (200–500m)
Cave System North of Lifepod Recommended
The most accessible early-game silver spot. Swim north from your Lifepod and descend into the mid-size cave network at 200–400m. Silver veins appear on cave walls and floors. Look for clusters of orange Pent Plants — silver ore commonly spawns nearby.
Coral Spires Moderate
The tall coral formations in the central map zone contain numerous hidden cavities. Silver appears in smaller scattered veins — check crevices and overhangs carefully as you swim through.
Hydrothermal Vent Biome (~200m)
Eastern Hydrothermal Vents Danger Zone
Around 200m east of your Lifepod, the Hydrothermal Vent biome contains larger silver nodes with better yield per run. Hazard warning: thermal plumes and aggressive creatures are present. Bring thermal protection gear before venturing here.
Large Nodes Require the Sonic Resonator
Some silver deposits in deeper zones appear as oversized nodes that can't be mined with standard tools. You'll need to unlock and craft the Sonic Resonator to shatter them. Prioritize this tool in mid-game progression for significantly better yields.
Processor Recipes
Where Is the Processor?
The Processor is a fixed station (not player-built equipment) found inside a shipwreck approximately 275m deep to the southwest of your Lifepod. Locate the wreck and look for the Processor terminal inside the hull.
Crafting a Silver Ingot
| Input | Amount | Output |
|---|---|---|
| Silver Ore | × 3 | Silver Ingot × 1 |
Three Silver Ore → one Silver Ingot at the Processor. Ingots are required for mid-to-late game equipment.
Building Your Own Processor
| Material | Amount |
|---|---|
| Titanium Alloy | × 2 |
| Mild Acid | × 1 |
| Copper Wire | × 1 |
What Silver Ore Is Used For
| Item | Materials | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Air Tank | Titanium × 2 + Silver Ore × 2 + Rubber × 1 | Essential early O₂ extension |
| Advanced Battery | Silver Ingot × 1 + Lithium × 1 | Powers mid/late-game tools |
| Tadpole Dock | Titanium Ingot × 2 + Silver Ingot × 1 + Copper Wire × 2 | Submarine docking station |
Farming Tips
- Start with the cave system north of your Lifepod — safest early route with reliable silver spawns.
- Always carry extra oxygen tanks before diving into deep caves.
- Once you have the Sonic Resonator, the Hydrothermal Vent zone becomes the most efficient mid-game farming route.
- Mine in batches of 9+ ore per trip to smelt 3 ingots and cover multiple recipe needs at once.
- Set up a small base near the shipwreck Processor to reduce travel time between mining and smelting.
